Campaign Story
During the first quarter of the Super Bowl, Limit Break aired a 30-second ad featuring anime-style game characters fixated on a floating QR code. The minimal spot urged viewers to scan the code. Those curious enough to scan were directed to a minting page for a free digital collectible (an NFT “Dragon Egg”) from the upcoming DigiDaigaku game. The story played on curiosity and FOMO – millions saw a bouncing QR code and a promise of “free digital treasure,” turning a passive TV ad into an interactive, phone-driven rush for a limited supply of 10,000 NFTs.
Execution
Created a sparse Super Bowl commercial with animated characters and a prominent, bouncing QR code (no explanatory text)
Ran the ad during Super Bowl LVII to maximize exposure
Viewers who scanned the QR code were taken to a website where the first 10,000 could connect a crypto wallet and mint a DigiDaigaku Dragon Egg NFT for free
The demand overwhelmed the site, and some users were redirected to the CEO’s Twitter due to traffic issues
Despite technical hiccups, all NFTs were claimed, and the campaign sparked wide discussion about Web3 in mainstream media.
